Quake Global Introduces Q1000 Modem

Tiny New QUAKE® Q1000 Modem Available in October; Represents a Major Breakthrough in ORBCOMM® modems in Terms of Both Price and Size.

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – September 14, 2005, -- Quake Global, Inc. announced the introduction of its new Q1000 – the smallest, and lowest priced satellite communicator (modem) ever made available for use on any satellite system. The new modem is now at ORBCOMM for final FCC testing, and will be available for initial deliveries in October. The Q1000 was developed to satisfy the strong customer demand for a very small-footprint modem at a price point under $100.

Measuring just 2 ½ inches square by 6/10 of an inch thick, smaller than the total area of a credit card, the Q1000 is the perfect transceiver to integrate into customer applications that require high quality construction, reliable electronics, and a small footprint. The Q1000 will be available from all of the Quake Global distributors throughout the world, as well as directly from QUAKE.

Like all of QUAKE’s modems, the Q1000 is manufactured in the United States, and adheres to the high standards of excellence that have made QUAKE the leading manufacturer of modems for the ORBCOMM Satellite System. QUAKE’s superior technology, high standards of excellence, and attention to customer service have enabled QUAKE to earn the trust and business of many significant world-wide manufacturers, such as Volvo Trucking, Renault Trucks, Mack Trucks, Komatsu, Caterpillar, Hitachi, AirIQ, XATA, Avidyne, and many others.

The Q1000 modem represents another example of QUAKE’s unique commitment to meet the needs and requests of its customers by providing state-of-the-art transceivers in varied formats that allow our customers to provide unique and economical solutions for a rapidly evolving industry,” said Polina Braunstein, CEO of Quake Global. “It has long been the goal of most satellite communicator manufacturers to market a reliable transceiver in a small-footprint package at a price-point under $100 in quantity. QUAKE has achieved that goal with the Q1000. We believe that the Q1000 is the first satellite communicator to achieve this goal for any satellite communication system.

QUAKE believes that this new low-cost modem, coupled with ORBCOMM’s ability to provide attractively priced airtime on one of the nation’s premier satellite networks, will open new markets that may have previously been avoiding satellite communications because of the fear that it was too expensive. Now that perceived price barrier has been overcome, and we expect an entirely new level of interest to be forthcoming.”
